After having my completed trailer, I now needed to add the song choice, which was ‘Joker (2019) trailer music’. I used adobe audition to implement my soundtrack of choice into my trailer. To do this I simply downloaded the song from YouTube, and slotted it into audition. I cut the end of the music off because I only needed it to be the length of my trailer.
I had previously planned when filming to have it to a set length of time so that the music would automatically sync up with the video footage. This worked, and the trailer fitted nicely with the music.
There is a scene in the trailer, where a man (Sam Bailey) will punch another person (Liam Johns). I needed to add a punching sound effect, so I used a website called, ‘FREESOUND’. This website has a lot of sound effects to choose from, and I have used it in my other project. I found the punching sound effect I liked, and added it into the trailer. The punching sound effect was very loud, and didn’t blend well with the trailers music. To fix this issue, there is a yellow volume line along the audio track, I selected the punching noise, and lowered its volume so it wasn’t as loud, then I blended it back in by gradually increasing the volume using click and drag to alter the decibel volume. This made it sound much smoother and almost like it was sound from the actual film, not a added sound effect. Using this same decibel volume level, I gradually had the volume increase at the beginning of the trailer, and also had it slowly fade out towards the end.
The overall sound of the music, I lowered to make sure that it didn’t sound too muffled and distorted throughout the trailer.
This process went well due to my planning before hand making sure that the audio would automatically sync up with my footage, and the punching sound effect was easy to add.
